March 26, 2021 – Los Angeles, CA – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to announce Global Rising Soccer Club as its newest expansion club ahead of the Spring Season.

Based in Columbus, OH, Global Rising SC will begin UPSL play in the Midwest Conference East Division. The club will host its home games at Reynoldsburg High School (6699 E. Livingston Ave., Renoldsburg, OH 43068).

Imoro Latif and Mamadou Coulibaly are Co-Owners of Global Rising SC. The team will complete exclusively in the UPSL.

UPSL Midwest Conference East Division Manager Robert Brinkman said, "We are excited to welcome Global Rising Soccer Club to the UPSL. It's great to be growing into Ohio, and Global Rising SC will help to grow the foundation for the UPSL in the state for seasons to come. Imoro and Mamadou have a passion for developing players in Columbus, and they are committed to the club's long-term success. We wish them the best as the club prepares to kick off this spring."

Founded in 2017, Global Rising SC has previously served as a training academy for high school and college-age players in the Central Ohio region.

"We've decided to help this team get into the game," Latif said. "We like the UPSL because it's for developing players, and we have a lot of good players, but the opportunities in Columbus are limited so we've made this team to help players advance to the next level. This is just the beginning."

Latif is a native of Ghana and was invited to play for the Ghanaian National Under-17 Team before immigrating to the United States in 2017.

A native of Mauritania, Coulibaly played professionally in France and the Netherlands. He currently holds a USSF 'A' coaching license.

"We have so many talented players that needed an opportunity to compete so we got to thinking, 'What's the best thing for us to do?' The natural thought was that we can jump to the UPSL," said Coulibaly, who serves as Head Coach of Global Rising SC. "The competition level in the UPSL is high and the league is growing in interesting ways all over the map. We're a team with a global flavor and many international players, and the league has tons of international connections to get players seen by pro clubs across the globe."

Tony Labudovski, a native of Macedonia, serves as Assistant Coach.

Games are schedule to begin April 17. Global Rising SC is hosting its final tryout this weekend and will announce its fixture calendar.
