UPSL Announces Texas Expansion with Odessa FC

Odessa, TX based Club Joins West Texas Division for 2020 Fall Season

September 17, 2020 – Los Angeles, CA – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to announce Odessa FC as its newest member.

Based in Odessa, TX, Odessa FC will begin UPSL play as part of the West Texas Division. The club will host its home games at UTPB Park (UTPB Park Drive, Odessa, TX 79762).

Eliseo Ortiz is the Owner of Odessa FC. Ortiz played four seasons at University of Texas-Permian Basin and currently is in his sixth year as boys varsity soccer coach at Odessa High School.

UPSL West Texas Division Manager Raul Ruiz said, "We're happy to have Odessa FC in the UPSL. Eliseo is regarded as a high-character individual. He is a firm believer in responsibility, commitment, discipline and humbleness. This is a new opportunity for him to direct and extend his curriculum in the sport he loves, motivating future leaders and those with potential soccer futures."

Odessa FC will complete exclusively in the UPSL.

"We have chosen to create Odessa FC to continue player development for Odessa area soccer players who are left without options after finishing their local club and high school careers. This also will aid in the development of current college-level players during their summers and offseason," Ortiz said.

"The important thing is to begin the process of creating a team for the benefit of the Odessa soccer community," Ortiz said. "We share the vision of Raul Ruiz, and want to do our part in creating a team that others in West Texas will follow."

About Odessa FC

Odessa FC is an American Soccer club currently based in Odessa, TX, and a new member of the United Premier Soccer League. Odessa FC will play in the UPSL's West Texas Division.

Odessa FC can participate in the qualifying rounds for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup through their affiliation and membership with the UPSL, the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).

United Premier Soccer League

The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 300 teams nationwide. The UPSL is the largest Pro Development League in North America. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated.

UPSL teams are eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the league's affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
